I have been involved in providing insurance coverage since 1969. Initially, employed in an agency, I now do so thru my own agency.
Whilst I handle lots of insurance coverage for individuals, my clients include professional/consultant firms, trading & contracting enterprises and small & medium industries.
With MSIG's range of products, I am able to provide for your needs for your assets, home contents, leisure activities; business risks like money, loss of profits; office & factory contents & equipments, product shipments
Experience
I started as an office assistant in 1969 with my late uncle Mr Tan Kok Sun's agency with Prudential Assurance. When the agency was corporatized in 1980 as Tan Kok Sun Sdn Bhd, I was appointed a director in charge of servicing of policy holders and handling new business.
In 1991, following restructuring of Prudential, the agency signed up with Taisho Marine and Fire Insurance (M) Bhd.
In 1992, my uncle Kok Sun decided to retire for good and passed on the entire portfolio to me. I am grateful that all the policy holders accepted me and chose to support me.
Uncle Kok Sun passed away in December 1993. Incidentally, I have been told he took over from his late brother Kok Huat who in turn took over from his father Tan Chin Wah (my grandfather)
Hence my partnership with Taisho began. And up till today, they remain my one and only principal although I am entitled to have two.
When the compulsory Certificate Course for General Insurance Agents was introduced, I qualified after going through the MII course from October to December 1987.
On top of the usual policies we usually provide our clients, some of the not so common insurance requirements included
- Professional indemnity
- Timber products processing in sawmills & kilning plants
- Product shipments (exports & local deliveries) including timber, hardware, electronic processing equipments, chemical, food products
- Frozen food storage
- Contracting jobs in civil construction, installation of electronic & electrical processing equipments in oil gas & industrial premises
- Voluntary organisations - St John Ambulance's North South Highway duty during the festive periods, Rotary Club projects - community & international student exchange

I have been a member of the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja since 1988.
Currently I also serve on the Management Committee of the Outward Bound Trust of Malaysia and chair the Safety Sub-committee.
